Certificate Management Project is designed as a universal certification gathering hub featuring social and gamification elements like job boards, achievements, certificate design, and more. This project got 2nd place in an event run by Turkish Airlines at the Izmir University of Economics. The competition was for student projects that Turkish Airlines might adapt to their operations and services. With CMP, users can compile all their certificates on a LinkedIn-like profile page, showcasing their skills to potential employers. Certificate issuers can create their certificates using the online design editor and distribute them to graduates. Employers can browse the job board for positions requiring specific skills, certificates (such as CISCO certs), and knowledge in particular areas. This platform allows issuers to distribute their certificates globally with a unique identifier, users to share their certificates worldwide, and employers to easily verify certificates and discover future talent.
Development of this project started with the idea of the difficulty of verifying physical certificates that were not standardized. It takes a lot of time and work to verify job applicants' certificates without having such a system, especially when they apply from outside the country and have certificates from their home country rather than the target country.
There is no guaranteed way for job applicants to prove that the certificates they are presenting are actually valid and genuine unless they get in touch with the certificate's original issuer. If the individual possesses multiple certificates from various issuers, verifying certificates can become a hassle. Furthermore, without such a system, it takes a lot of time and effort to find a talent with a legitimate and authentic certificate for a position that requires that certificate.
